Senior Full Stack Software Engineer

About the role

Capitec Insurance is moving into South Africa's insurance market, with 23 million banking clients and a three-year growth plan. As a senior full stack engineer you will lead end-to-end initiatives, design complete solutions and provide technical leadership across the entire application stack, from the client-facing app to the back-end systems that process claims in real time.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end system design across the full application stack and make architectural decisions spanning front-end and back-end
• Mentor engineers on full stack practices and holistic technical thinking
• Drive technical standards across the team and design complete application architectures from the ground up
• Optimise performance across the stack and integrate complex systems across the insurance platform
• Balance front-end user experience with back-end performance

Required profile

• 6+ years of proven full stack software development experience delivering end-to-end solutions in production
• Strong back-end capability in C#/.NET Core and solid front-end experience with React or Vue and TypeScript
• Experience designing scalable systems in AWS environments and leading technical decisions across the full stack
• Experience in regulated or financial services environments is a strong advantage
• Ability to explain technical decisions clearly to engineers, architects and business stakeholders
• Interest in growing the engineers around you
• Minimum Grade 12 National Certificate; a relevant tertiary qualification in information technology is preferred
• Clear criminal and credit record

Required skills

• Back-end: C# and .NET Core, PostgreSQL, Kafka or similar, RESTful APIs, microservices and event-driven architectures
• Front-end: React, Angular or Vue, TypeScript, HTML and CSS
• AWS, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, SQL and NoSQL database optimisation
