Senior Engineer, Risk Analytics Solutions

About the role

Liberty is seeking a Senior Engineer to join its Risk Analytics Solutions team in Johannesburg. The role sits at the intersection of advanced data science and day-to-day operations, embedding the engineer in a cross-functional squad focused on deploying AI, risk models and sophisticated strategies. The engineer ensures that systems such as credit scorecards and real-time fraud detection are deployed effectively, using AWS orchestration solutions built with SAS Viya.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the deployment and monitoring of risk-based analytical solutions.
• Develop and maintain automated orchestration pipelines supporting risk management services.
• Ensure analytical outputs are integrated into a scalable production environment.
• Implement and maintain containerisation and distributed computing solutions.
• Use Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to manage cloud resources efficiently.
• Work with data scientists, risk analysts and other stakeholders to streamline IT processes.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems or a related quantitative field.
• 3-5 years of experience in DevOps, MLOps, Cloud Engineering or Data Engineering, with a strong emphasis on automation.
• Ability to document facts, develop technical expertise and explain complex information to diverse teams.

Required skills

• Advanced Python.
• CI/CD tools such as GitLab Actions, Jenkins or Azure DevOps.
• Cloud platforms, with AWS preferred.
• Docker and Kubernetes.
• IaC tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Familiarity with big data frameworks, data integrity and data quality standards.
