Senior Electronic Design Engineer

About the role

Communicate Engineering is seeking an experienced Senior Electronic Design Engineer to join its dynamic team in Stellenbosch. You will lead the development of innovative analog, digital, and RF electronic products from concept through to production.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop analog, digital, and RF circuits.
• Create schematics, support PCB layout, and select appropriate components.
• Test, verify, and troubleshoot hardware using electronic test equipment.
• Analyse test results and recommend design improvements.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering and manufacturing teams.
• Participate in design reviews and drive continuous product innovation.

Required profile

• 5–8 years of hands‑on electronic hardware design experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electronic, Electrical or Mechatronic Engineering.
• South African residency or valid work permit.
• Strong analytical, communication and problem‑solving abilities.

Required skills

• Analog, digital and mixed‑signal circuit design.
• RF circuit design.
• Schematic capture and PCB design tools.
• Electronic test and measurement equipment.
• EMC, signal integrity and thermal design.
• Hardware debugging.
• Communication protocols: SPI, I²C, UART, USB, Bluetooth, Wi‑Fi.
• Exposure to embedded systems, sensor technologies or signal processing.
