Mechanical Engineer – Satellite Hardware

About the role

We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to design, analyse and qualify mechanical components and assemblies for satellite communication systems. The role involves hands‑on work in a fast‑growing space‑technology company.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for satellite communication systems.
• Create detailed 3D CAD models and manufacturing drawings.
• Perform structural (FEA), thermal and vibration analysis for launch and space environments.
• Support environmental qualification testing such as vibration and thermal‑vacuum cycling.
• Analyse test data and produce engineering reports.
• Collaborate with manufacturing teams and suppliers to optimise producibility and cost.

Required profile

• South African citizenship or valid work permit.
• BEng/BSc Eng/MEng/MSc in Mechanical, Mechatronic or Aerospace Engineering.
• At least 2 years of relevant mechanical design experience.
• Experience with mechanical CAD modelling and engineering drawings.
• Background in structural (FEA) and/or thermal analysis.

Required skills

• CAD (SolidWorks, RhinoCAD, SolidEdge, etc.).
• FEA tools (ANSYS, Abaqus, etc.).
• Design for manufacture and assembly (DFMA).
• Engineering analysis and problem‑solving.
