Senior DevOps Engineer

About the role

FDM is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer for a leading financial services client in Johannesburg. The role is focused on designing, building, automating and operating an enterprise‑grade platform that enables secure, scalable and compliant software delivery through DevSecOps, GitOps and Platform Engineering practices.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain enterprise CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Argo CD and GitOps methodologies.
• Implement and enhance DevSecOps controls such as SAST, DAST, Software Composition Analysis and container security.
• Manage cloud‑native platforms including Kubernetes, AWS EKS, Rancher and Helm.
• Develop Infrastructure as Code solutions with Terraform and automate provisioning.
• Enable observability with OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, Loki and Tempo.
• Support release management across DEV, UAT, PRE‑PROD and PROD environments.
• Drive platform governance, compliance and RBAC controls.
• Mentor engineers and champion automation‑first practices.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years of experience in DevOps, Platform Engineering or a closely related field.
• Hands‑on experience with GitHub Enterprise, GitHub Actions, Argo CD, Octopus Deploy, Terraform, Kubernetes and AWS.
• Proven track record implementing enterprise‑scale CI/CD pipelines, GitOps and DevSecOps controls.
• Experience working in regulated industries, preferably banking or financial services.
• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science or a related discipline.
