Senior DevOps Engineer

About the role

The Senior DevOps Engineer will lead the optimisation of software development and deployment processes across the organisation. Working closely with development, operations and security teams, you will automate workflows, improve system reliability and ensure applications scale efficiently in an agile environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and version‑control infrastructure as code using Terraform or similar tools.
• Design, implement and manage CI/CD pipelines to automate builds, tests and deployments.
• Manage container platforms such as Docker, Kubernetes and Rancher to support micro‑services.
• Automate repetitive tasks with Python, Bash or PowerShell and configuration‑management tools like Ansible, Chef or Puppet.
• Implement monitoring, logging and alerting solutions (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, Azure Monitor).
• Optimise infrastructure for performance, scalability and cost, providing data‑driven recommendations.
• Collaborate with security teams to embed DevSecOps practices throughout pipelines and environments.
• Provide 2nd and 3rd level incident and problem support, including root‑cause analysis.
• Document infrastructure, processes, runbooks and standard operating procedures.
• Define and report on DevOps metrics such as deployment frequency, lead time, change failure rate and MTTR.
• Mentor junior engineers and enable capability building within the team.

Required profile

• Senior‑level professional with extensive experience in DevOps, automation and cloud‑native environments.
• Proven ability to work cross‑functionally and drive collaboration between development, operations and security.
• Strong problem‑solving skills with a focus on incident resolution and continuous improvement.
• Experience mentoring junior team members and sharing knowledge.
