Senior Bookkeeper – Accounting Firm

About the role

Our client, an Accounting Firm based in Paarl, is seeking a detail‑oriented and reliable Senior Bookkeeper to join their growing team. The successful incumbent will be responsible for recording and maintaining day‑to‑day business financial transactions of the firm’s clients into general ledgers.

Key responsibilities

• Record day‑to‑day financial transactions and complete posting in accounting software.
• Bring the books to the trial balance stage and ensure accuracy.
• File electronic or hard‑copy documents.
• Review management reports and issue them to clients across categories.
• Manage VAT reconciliation and submission processes.
• Handle client management and engagement on bookkeeping matters.
• Oversee bookkeeping team administrative and management aspects.
• Create, review, and approve audit packs and financial statement packs.
• Perform various ad‑hoc duties as required.

Required profile

• Matric with strong grades in mathematics and accounting.
• Completed certificate or diploma in accounting or bookkeeping.
• 3–5 years of experience in a similar role.
• Proficient in Afrikaans and English (read, write, speak).
• Technology‑savvy with experience in Sage Online Accounting, Xero, QuickBooks, Excel, etc.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to maintain discretion and privacy with sensitive information.
• Excellent data entry and processing skills.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities.
