Senior Azure Data Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Azure Data Engineer to design, build, optimise and maintain scalable data solutions within the Microsoft Azure ecosystem. You will develop robust ETL/ELT pipelines, implement data‑warehouse architectures, ensure data quality and governance, and support advanced analytics initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Data Factory and Azure Databricks.
• Build and optimise Azure‑based data platforms and data warehouses (Synapse, ADLS Gen2, Microsoft Fabric).
• Develop and maintain SQL and Python data‑processing solutions, including automated tests.
• Implement data‑modelling using Kimball, dimensional modelling and Data Vault 2.0 methodologies.
• Support CI/CD processes, source control (Git) and deployment pipelines via Azure DevOps.
• Ensure data quality, governance (Azure Purview) and performance optimisation.
• Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to deliver data‑driven solutions.

Required profile

• Degree or diploma in Computer Science, IT, Data Science or related field.
• Proven senior‑level experience designing and operating Azure data solutions.
• Relevant Microsoft Azure certifications are a plus.

Required skills

• T‑SQL and SQL programming (stored procedures, functions, performance tuning).
• Python for ETL development and data wrangling.
• Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure Synapse Analytics.
• Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2, Microsoft Fabric.
• Azure DevOps, Git, CI/CD pipelines.
• Data governance tools such as Azure Purview.
• Data‑modelling techniques: Kimball, dimensional modelling, Data Vault 2.0.
