Senior / Associate Electrical Engineer

About the role

WSP is looking for a Senior or Associate Electrical Engineer to provide consulting engineering services and design electrical systems. The role covers MV & LV, earthing, power and lighting, single line diagrams, reticulation, generators, UPS, fire detection and alarms, as well as data, CCTV, access control, intruder alarms and building management. It suits someone who wants to work on landmark projects with a global firm.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare accurate designs, design calculations, budgets and tender specifications, and perform project financial control and construction monitoring.
• Work with multi-disciplinary engineering teams through all project stages, from inception to close-out, with limited input from management.
• Focus on client care, on-time delivery and repeat business, and set up client/consultant fee and contract agreements.
• Manage internal project finances, including hourly forecasting, WIP and invoicing.
• Act as a SHEQ role model, help identify risks and promote a zero-harm approach.
• Attend networking and client events and manage professional fees.

Required profile

• Minimum BSc Eng. or B.Tech in Electrical Engineering; professional registration with ECSA is advantageous.
• At least 7 years of consulting engineering experience in building services and/or industry.
• SAQCC registration is highly advantageous.
• Good English communication skills, including report writing.
• Own vehicle and willingness to travel within RSA and Africa.

Required skills

• SANS10142-1&2, SANS10400 and SANS204, and building contracts such as JBCC, FIDIC and NEC.
• MV and LV reticulation, standby power systems and renewable energy installations.
• BIM software (Revit, Navisworks, Glue, Field) and electrical tools such as Relux/Dialux, CBi/Ecodial, ETAP.
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
