Senior Accountant – Business Services & Outsourcing

About the role

The Business Services and Outsourcing (BSO) team at BDO is looking for a Senior Accountant to support a diverse portfolio of clients, from entrepreneurial SMEs to large multinational groups. You will work in an agile environment, handling bookkeeping, management accounts and VAT returns while building strong client relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, process and record bank transactions, purchase, sales and general ledger entries across multiple accounting packages.
• Produce monthly management accounts and VAT returns with minimal supervision.
• Maintain professional communication with clients, building trust and delivering timely solutions.
• Train junior team members on accounting software and processes.
• Analyse financial data, identify inefficiencies and propose corrective actions.

Required profile

• BCom degree majoring in Accounting with 1‑2 years of bookkeeping experience.
• Experience preparing management accounts and VAT returns.
• Good understanding of corporate tax basics and statutory audit file preparation (preferred).
• Strong organisational, analytical and research skills.
• Ability to work independently, under pressure and support team members.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Xero and other cloud accounting software.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and Office skills.
• Solid bookkeeping capabilities.
• VAT return preparation.
