Section Engineer - Underground

About the role

Hire Resolve's client, a mining company in Limpopo, is seeking an experienced Section Engineer to lead engineering activities for underground operations. The role involves ensuring safe, reliable and efficient maintenance of mining equipment and infrastructure while complying with statutory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Provide engineering leadership and ensure compliance with engineering and safety legislation.
• Manage maintenance, reliability and availability of underground mining equipment and infrastructure.
• Support underground operations through effective maintenance planning and execution.
• Oversee contractors and engineering service providers to meet performance targets.
• Lead and develop engineering teams via performance management, coaching and succession planning.
• Control engineering budgets, optimise resource utilisation and manage maintenance costs.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and operational efficiency.
• Ensure engineering governance, risk management and statutory compliance.
• Monitor engineering performance and implement corrective actions as needed.
• Collaborate with operational teams to achieve production and business objectives.

Required profile

• Grade 12 and a Degree/Diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
• 8‑10 years’ experience as a Section Engineer in an underground mining environment.
• Experience with conventional and trackless underground mining.
• Proven project management, maintenance and reliability engineering experience.
• Valid driver’s licence.
