AIT Technician

About the role

Our client is a fast‑growing space‑industry company that designs, develops and manufactures advanced RF communication systems for satellite applications. They produce high‑data‑rate antennas, transmitters and ground‑support equipment and are scaling production of space‑qualified hardware.

Key responsibilities

• Assemble, integrate and test RF and digital communication units from engineering models to flight hardware.
• Perform precision PCB, cable and harness assembly and mechanical integration.
• Conduct functional, environmental and RF performance testing using specialised laboratory equipment.
• Troubleshoot production failures to component level and carry out root‑cause analysis.
• Support product qualification and acceptance testing, including vibration, thermal cycling and thermal‑vacuum testing.
• Assist with test‑jig development, work‑instruction creation and design‑for‑manufacture improvements.
• Maintain accurate build records and test data in line with quality requirements.
• Support continuous improvement of production processes, quality and efficiency.

Required profile

• B‑Tech Degree or Advanced Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, or equivalent qualification with relevant experience.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience as an AIT Technician or in a similar RF/communication systems role.
• Experience in an electronic engineering or manufacturing environment.
• South African citizenship or a valid work permit.
• Ability to work independently, take ownership and collaborate effectively with technical teams.
• Willingness to work occasional extended hours during testing campaigns.
