Seasonal Wine Tasting Ambassador

About the role

Benguela Cove Lagoon Wine Estate, near Hermanus, is looking for experienced wine professionals to act as Wine Tasting Ambassadors in its tasting room. The ambassadors welcome guests, guide them through the ranges and pairings and turn a first visit into a lasting relationship with the estate.

Key responsibilities

• Host guests in the tasting room and lead tastings with authority, warmth and confidence.
• Tell the story of the lagoon, the cellar and the people behind both.
• Sell wine, including the wine club, and introduce guests to Moody Lagoon restaurant, the villas and the estate's events.
• Make every guest feel looked after, from the first greeting to the last bottle.

Required profile

• Proven experience hosting tastings or selling wine in a tasting room, cellar door, wine estate, restaurant or luxury hospitality setting, with a minimum of six months in the role.
• A track record of turning conversations into sales.
• Availability for weekends, public holidays and the busy summer season.
• Fluent English; Afrikaans, German or French is a bonus.

Required skills

• Solid wine knowledge; WSET or a similar qualification is an advantage.
• A polished, personable manner with guests from all over the world.
