SCM Officer

About the role

Gateway Airports Authority Limited (GAAL), a provincially owned business enterprise responsible for managing Polokwane International Airport, is recruiting one SCM Officer (Ref No: SCM: 10/2026). The post reports directly to the Supply Chain Manager and covers the full procurement cycle, from inviting quotations to managing contracts and preparing reports.

Key responsibilities

• Facilitate acquisition of goods and services by inviting quotations from suppliers
• Advertise bids, open them and evaluate them, then submit recommendations for adjudication
• Liaise with the successful bidder and attend bid committee meetings
• Draft correspondence to bidders on the outcome of the bid process
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reports and ensure smooth workflow in the SCM section
• Manage and keep records of all contracts
• Advise other sections on supply chain processes and help compile specifications and service level agreements
• Conduct market analysis and compile the procurement plan in line with the Budget and Annual Performance Plan

Required profile

• Minimum National Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Supply Chain Management or a relevant qualification
• At least 2 years of experience in a Supply Chain department
• Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills
• Ability to work under pressure and a strong commitment to professional and client service

Required skills

• Working knowledge of PFMA and SCM prescripts
• Supply chain and procurement processes

The remuneration package is R 332 325.00 to R 427 987.32 per annum, exclusive of housing allowance, pension and medical aid. Applications close on 23 October 2026 at 16:00; shortlisted candidates face checks and verification of qualifications.
