Sales Administrative Manager

About the role

People Dimension is seeking a highly professional Sales Administrative Manager to support the Sales Director of a steel distribution business in Johannesburg. The role focuses on coordinating the sales department, driving accountability, and ensuring that customer commitments and internal processes are executed efficiently. This is a non‑selling position that requires strong leadership and analytical abilities.

Key responsibilities

• Report directly to the Sales Director and manage daily activities of the sales department.
• Monitor and improve sales team performance, productivity, and accountability.
• Ensure timely handling of customer requests, quotations, follow‑ups and commitments.
• Allocate, track and manage tasks across the sales team.
• Develop and maintain reporting systems, dashboards and performance metrics.
• Analyse sales data to identify areas needing management intervention.
• Enforce adherence to company policies, procedures and sales processes.
• Prepare management reports and provide recommendations for departmental effectiveness.
• Assist with strategic planning, forecasting and operational improvements.
• Act as the central liaison between the Sales Director and the sales team.

Required profile

• Proven experience in reporting, data analysis, KPI management and performance measurement.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and reporting tools.
• Strong leadership, people‑management and high emotional intelligence.
• Excellent communication, problem‑solving and organisational skills.
• Valid driver’s licence.
