Roofbolt Operator – Underground Mining

About the role

The Roofbolt Operator will work underground at the Amandelbult Complex, operating a mobile mechanised roofbolter to install roofbolts in accordance with mining and safety standards. This position is essential for maintaining ground support and ensuring safe working conditions in the mine.

Key responsibilities

• Obtain daily and weekly work instructions from the Shift/Team Supervisor.
• Plan and prioritize tasks and resource requirements to meet production targets.
• Operate the roofbolter safely and efficiently to achieve quality standards.
• Communicate with team members about ongoing work to ensure safety.
• Perform basic maintenance and inspections on the roofbolting equipment.
• Identify and report any obstacles or safety concerns to the supervisor.
• Ensure compliance with all safety, legal, and operational procedures.

Required profile

• Grade 12 or equivalent (advantageous).
• NQF Level 3 qualification.
• Competent B classification.
• Valid Code 10 driving licence.
• Ability to read, write and speak English.

Required skills

• Certified competence as a Roofbolter Operator.
• Experience with VTS testing and suitable grading.
• Basic equipment maintenance skills.
• Safe operation of mobile mechanised roofbolting machinery.
