Reservationist

About the role

The Reservationist works in the Reservations Department of a Radisson hotel in uMhlanga, supporting business expansion and growth while keeping the guest journey to the highest standard. The role is proactive, analytical and entrepreneurial, and the incumbent acts as an ambassador for the brand, following company policies and local regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Keep the reservations department running smoothly so that all aspects of the guest journey meet property and company standards.
• Maximise guest satisfaction by handling enquiries and resolving problems proactively.
• Develop and implement strategies around key reservations metrics, keeping reports and tracking tools up to date.
• Manage the life cycle of the departmental team, fostering growth, development and performance.
• Prepare and control the departmental budget, including costs and inventory.
• Maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders and partners.
• Review business performance and recommend actions that improve financial results, including ad hoc projects with partners.
• Ensure compliance with legislation and prepare documentation for internal and external audits.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a reservations position, ideally in a hotel environment.
• Leadership skills with a hands-on, lead-by-example approach.
• Passion for hospitality and commitment to exceptional guest service.
• Integrity, strong communication and listening skills, and ability to collaborate across functions and cultures.
• Ability to handle multiple challenging priorities and to find creative solutions.

Required skills

• Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
