Registered Nurse – Theatre – Pretoria

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our theatre team in Pretoria. The successful candidate will deliver safe, cost‑effective, evidence‑based patient care in line with hospital standards and South African nursing regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Provide holistic care to surgical patients, maintaining aseptic technique when opening packs and consumables.
• Control patient and hospital costs through correct, safe, and economical use of supplies and equipment.
• Communicate effectively with patients, relatives, and the multidisciplinary team regarding care plans and status changes.
• Ensure compliance with documentation policies and maintain accurate nursing care plans.
• Manage stock, ensuring proper charging, crediting, and safety in accordance with the Machinery and Occupational Safety Act.
• Participate actively in Clinical Governance and uphold evidence‑based nursing practices.
• Maintain personal and professional development, including competency in CPR, BLS, and anesthetic refresher courses.

Required profile

• Grade 12 or equivalent NQF level 4 qualification.
• Enrolled Nurse qualification with current registration on the South African Nursing Council (SANC) register.
• Minimum of 5 years experience as a registered nurse, including scrub nursing, floor nursing, and anaesthetic exposure.
• Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, patient safety, and infection control & prevention.
• Demonstrated problem‑solving, resilience, and professional flexibility in working hours.
