Registered Nurse – Surgical Ward

About the role

We are seeking a Registered Nurse to join the Surgical Ward at Life Peglerae Hospital in Johannesburg. Reporting to the Unit Manager, you will deliver holistic patient care and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to meet the hospital’s strategic objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Provide and supervise nursing care in accordance with legislation and ethical codes.
• Develop and manage comprehensive nursing care plans using the scientific nursing process.
• Enhance patient satisfaction through quality improvement initiatives and effective complaint handling.
• Maintain a safe emotional and physical environment, adhering to SHEQ and infection control standards.
• Contribute to business efficiency by ensuring cost‑effective care, proper stock management and accurate billing.
• Coach, mentor and support staff performance and development.

Required profile

• General Nursing Degree or Diploma with Grade 12 / Matric.
• Current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
• Minimum 2 years’ experience working in a surgical ward.
• Understanding of the private healthcare sector is an advantage.
