DPH Registered Nurse – Psychiatric Ward

About the role

The DPH Registered Nurse will provide safe, cost‑effective patient care on the psychiatric ward of Daxina Private Hospital. The role involves direct and indirect nursing care, assessment, planning, execution and supervision of care to meet patient needs.

Key responsibilities

• Practice patient care according to the Scope of Practice and assume total responsibility.
• Contribute to holistic care of patients and promote health and wellbeing.
• Attend handover at shift start and give detailed handover to the ward sister.
• Recognise life‑threatening situations and respond appropriately.
• Audit health records to ensure compliance with standards.
• Ensure stock is controlled, managed, charged and credited correctly.

Required profile

• Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse (or equivalent NQF 7 qualification).
• Matriculation qualification.
• Relevant experience in a psychiatric department.
• Compulsory Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced computer literacy and flexibility to work shifts.
