Registered Nurse – Renal Unit (Specialised Qualified)

About the role

The Renal Unit at Life Knysna is seeking a Specialised Qualified Registered Nurse to deliver evidence‑based, holistic care to patients with kidney conditions. Reporting to the Unit Manager, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining high clinical standards while supporting the hospital’s strategic goals of growth, efficiency, quality, and sustainability.

Key responsibilities

• Provide and coordinate evidence‑based clinical practices in the Renal Unit.
• Maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Manage multidisciplinary team interactions and promote a positive work environment.
• Control cost‑effective utilisation of resources, including pharmacy, clinical engineering, and equipment.
• Oversee stock management and ensure compliance with unit policies.
• Monitor labour hours in line with company policy.
• Enforce infection prevention and safety standards.
• Contribute to patient experience, clinical, and safety outcome targets.

Required profile

• Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse.
• Post‑graduate diploma or degree in Nephrology Nursing (required for shift‑leading duties).
• At least one year of post‑qualification experience in a Renal Unit.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Compliance with the SANC Scope of Practice and relevant healthcare legislation.
