Registered Nurse – Psychiatric Facility

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join a multidisciplinary team at a well‑established psychiatric facility in Bloemfontein. The role focuses on delivering high‑quality nursing care to patients navigating mental health challenges.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver safe, high-quality nursing care within your scope of practice.
• Assess, observe and monitor patients, communicating relevant clinical information to the multidisciplinary team.
• Create a safe, supportive and therapeutic environment for patients.
• Administer prescribed medication and educate patients on its use.
• Support patients in processing therapeutic interventions throughout their daily treatment programme.
• Encourage patient participation and compliance with therapy activities and daily schedules.
• Ensure nursing care aligns with the Mental Health Care Act (No. 17 of 2002).
• Collaborate closely with psychiatrists, psychologists and other healthcare professionals to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in General Nursing Science with a focus on psychiatry.
• Current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
• CPD portfolio with evidence of submission to SANC.
• Previous experience in a mental healthcare environment is advantageous.
• Knowledge or experience in substance‑use disorders is beneficial.
