Pharmacist Intern – Pharmacy Internship

About the role

Dis‑Chem is offering a Pharmacy Internship at its Matlosana store in Klerksdorp. The role is designed to give pharmacy students practical exposure to the full range of pharmacy operations, from dispensing to stock management, under direct supervision of a qualified pharmacist.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation, compounding and labeling of both non‑sterile and sterile medicines in accordance with SOPs.
• Handle the sale and dispensing of Schedule 1‑6 medicines, ensuring accurate prescription interpretation and patient counseling.
• Support stock control activities, including ordering, repackaging, stock‑takes and reporting low‑stock situations.
• Process medical aid claims, verify patient details, and resolve rejected scripts.
• Provide customer service at the dispensary, self‑medication counter and front‑shop, including health promotion advice.
• Maintain pharmacy records, customer profiles and adhere to Dis‑Chem health, safety and uniform policies.

Required profile

• Matric (Grade 12) qualification.
• Enrolled in a four‑year BPharm programme (or completed).
• Computer literate with proficiency in MS Office.
• Availability for holiday work or work during degree studies is advantageous.
