Registered Nurse – Neonatal Experience

About the role

A vacancy exists for a Registered Nurse with neonatal experience at Life Brenthurst Hospital in Johannesburg. Reporting to the unit manager, the successful candidate will deliver holistic, high‑quality nursing care to critically ill newborns, supporting positive outcomes in line with hospital strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Provide both basic and specialised nursing care to NICU patients, ensuring adherence to clinical protocols.
• Communicate continuously with patients’ families regarding condition and care plans.
• Administer medications in compliance with ethical and legal standards.
• Maintain infection‑control standards and SHEQ compliance throughout the unit.
• Monitor, report, and ensure proper functioning of specialised equipment and instrumentation.
• Support multidisciplinary team members, execute doctors’ orders, and assist with patient rounds.

Required profile

• Relevant degree or diploma in Nursing with Midwifery.
• Previous NICU experience and ability to work under pressure in a dynamic environment.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a customer‑oriented mindset.
• Willingness to work flexi‑hours and on‑call schedules as required.
• Commitment to continuous professional development and adherence to hospital policies.
