Registered Nurse - Mental Health

About the role

The Mondia HealthCare Group is recruiting a Registered Nurse for its Mondia Woodlands facility in Bloemfontein, reporting to the Unit Manager. The role suits a compassionate person who enjoys supporting people struggling with mental health challenges and helping them process therapy interventions. It is an entry-level position.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver safe, quality nursing care within the scope of practice.
• Assess, observe and monitor patients, and share information on their health and behaviour with the interdisciplinary team.
• Create a safe and supportive physical and psychological environment.
• Educate patients on prescribed medication and support them in understanding therapy interventions.
• Facilitate patient compliance with therapy activities and the daily schedule.
• Show awareness of the Mental Healthcare Act (Act 17 of 2002).
• Work alongside psychiatrists, psychologists and other clinicians to achieve good patient outcomes.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in General Nursing Science with Psychiatry.
• Registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
• Experience in a mental health environment is advantageous; knowledge of substance use disorders is also helpful.
• At least three contactable references.
