Registered Nurse / Clinical Technologist – Renal Unit

About the role

The Renal Unit at Life Renal Dialysis, Winelands is seeking a qualified Registered Nurse/Clinical Technologist to deliver holistic, high‑quality care to renal patients. Reporting to the Renal Unit Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring optimal patient outcomes while supporting multidisciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities

• Provide basic and specialised nursing care to renal patients.
• Communicate continuously with patients and families regarding condition and treatment.
• Administer medication in line with ethical and legal standards.
• Adhere to internal policies, protocols and quality management systems.
• Advocate for patients, coordinate case management and alert doctors to any concerns.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and support staff training and development.
• Manage stock, staff hours and leave according to company policies.
• Maintain infection control and SHEQ standards, reporting incidents as required.
• Conduct equipment checks daily, report faults and educate staff on proper use of renal dialysis equipment.
• Ensure accurate record‑keeping in compliance with legal and ethical requirements.

Required profile

• Relevant degree or diploma in Nursing.
• Relevant degree or diploma in Clinical Technology (Renal).
• Current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
• Current registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Clinical Technologist.
• Prior nursing experience in a renal or dialysis setting.
