Reeler Assistant – Uptakes #2 (Fixed-Term)

About the role

Sappi is looking for a Reeler Assistant to support the #2 Uptake Operator in a fixed‑term capacity. You will work on the reel conveyor line, ensuring smooth production while adhering to safety and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Operate the reel conveyor safely and efficiently according to standard operating procedures.
• Move reels for weighing, conveying, and storage in the designated pulp slab area.
• Label reels accurately to guarantee correct product identification and traceability.
• Carry out operational tasks directed by the Process Operator and Shift Superintendent.
• Perform routine cleaning of machines and equipment during shutdowns and as required.
• Report equipment failures, defects, and abnormal plant conditions promptly.
• Apply best operating practices to maintain safe, efficient, and quality production.

Required profile

• Matric (Grade 12) with Maths & Physical Science or N3 in Pulp and Paper.
• Minimum 6 months of relevant experience in a production environment.
