React Native Frontend Developer

About the role

We are looking for a senior Frontend Engineer to own the user‑facing experience of our AI‑enhanced products. You will work on both web (ReactJS) and mobile (React Native) platforms, delivering features that real users interact with daily. The role is embedded within a client product team in Johannesburg and operates in a hybrid model.

Key responsibilities

• Own end‑to‑end front‑end delivery from design handoff to app‑store release for both web and mobile.
• Build and maintain production‑grade React Native apps for iOS and Android, handling navigation, deep links, push notifications, offline states and performance on mid‑range devices.
• Develop responsive, accessible ReactJS interfaces that share the same standards as the mobile product.
• Integrate AI‑backed features, managing streaming responses, loading states and graceful fallbacks.
• Collaborate directly with Node.js and Python back‑ends, moving small changes without waiting on other teams.
• Maintain release pipelines, crash reporting and a disciplined “ship small and often” approach.

Required profile

• Senior‑level engineer comfortable working without hand‑offs and taking full ownership of features.
• Experience in hybrid work environments and ability to spend part of the week onsite with the client team.
• Strong focus on clean code, clear communication and accountability for shipped releases.
• Comfort with AI‑assisted tooling and a pragmatic approach to using native modules when they outperform libraries.
