R&D Manager – Animal Health (Research & Development)

About the role

The R&D Manager will lead the research and development team responsible for the animal nutrition portfolio across Sub‑Saharan Africa. You will drive innovative, science‑based solutions that improve animal health, feed efficiency and customer performance while aligning with global strategy and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a regional R&D strategy aligned with global innovation priorities.
• Identify and pursue new product opportunities in feed safety, milling optimisation, feed additives, premixes and nutritional solutions.
• Lead product development, localisation, formulation, trial design, data analysis and commercial readiness for poultry, ruminants, swine and aquaculture.
• Design and oversee in‑vivo and in‑vitro trials with research institutions, farms and partners, ensuring scientific, statistical, ethical and regulatory compliance.
• Coach and develop the regional R&D team, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.
• Ensure compliance with feed additive regulations, registration requirements and quality standards across SSA countries.
• Provide scientific support to commercial teams and translate trial results into actionable insights.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading R&D activities in animal nutrition or related fields.
• Strong understanding of feed science, gut health, mycotoxin management and market trends.
• Demonstrated ability to manage product lifecycles from concept to market.
• Excellent communication skills for cross‑functional collaboration and stakeholder engagement.
