Quality Technician (Junior Manager) - Automotive Glass

About the role

Shatterprufe, a manufacturer and distributor of OE auto and aftermarket automotive glass, is hiring a Quality Technician for its Neave plant in Port Elizabeth. The post is described as a Junior Manager position reporting to the Quality Manager, supporting the site in meeting quality systems, customer requirements and standards so that world-class quality products can be supplied.

Key responsibilities

• Drive site compliance with quality systems, processes and procedures, and run FPA audits to find and fix non-conformances.
• Act as customer liaison, ensuring systems address customer complaints and quality concerns.
• Support new product launches by evaluating products early (GP12) and reviewing and approving ISER documentation completed by FPA auditors.
• Conduct product audits as required by customers and share results internally and with customers.
• Support the Quality Manager with weekly and monthly reports (QPI, KPI and PPM).
• Manage staff accountability through performance and disciplinary procedures, and develop them through talent management and IDP processes.
• Share relevant information with stakeholders to support decision making.

Required profile

• Grade 12 qualification.
• B Tech in Quality.
• 5 years in a similar quality role, including 1 year in a supervisory capacity and 2 years in the automotive industry.

Required skills

• Quality management systems and quality auditing.
• TS IATF 16949 core tools.
• Microsoft Office.
• Verbal and written communication, analytical and leadership skills.
