Quality Manager – Automotive Components

About the role

Shatterprufe, an automotive component manufacturer based in Port Elizabeth, is looking for a Quality Manager for its Shatterprufe Struandale site. This is a middle management position reporting to the Operations Manager. The role coordinates and manages the site's Quality Assurance Department and Quality Control function so that the company's quality policy is followed, non-compliances are corrected promptly and Shatterprufe remains a world-class supplier of automotive components.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain internal quality work standards aligned with customer specifications and liaise with customers on specifications, complaints, developments and approvals.
• Manage staff through performance and disciplinary procedures and develop them through talent management and IDP processes.
• Ensure efficient document and systems management to meet customer standards and safety-critical product compliance.
• Communicate weekly, monthly and annual data trend reports and presentations so that KPI controls are in place and corrective actions are taken.
• Conduct internal process and system audits and host second and third party audits.
• Share relevant information with stakeholders to support business decisions.

Required profile

• National Diploma in a relevant field; Grade 12; BTech in Quality Management desirable.
• 8 years' experience in a quality environment, including conducting and hosting audits.
• 3 years' managerial experience and 5 years' automotive industry experience.

Required skills

• Quality Management Systems and statistics.
• Core tools: APQP, PPAP, MSA, SPC, FMEA and control plans.
• Customer-specific requirements and internal system and process auditing.
• Leadership, interpersonal, assertiveness and negotiation skills.
