Project Manager - Steam Power Infrastructure

About the role

GE Vernova Steam Power is looking for a Project Manager in Johannesburg who takes full ownership of a project from start to finish. The role leads the team that delivers safe, high-quality power infrastructure on schedule and on budget while optimising the company's margin.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the project safely, to the right quality, within schedule and budget, implementing the Project Execution Strategy for the allocated scope of work.
• Manage the project team and resolve claims and concessions with customers, contractors and suppliers.
• Manage risks and opportunities through action plans aimed at improving project margin.
• Develop and update the overall project schedule, applying project-specific procedures, work instructions, quality plans, environmental and health and safety plans, and the GE Vernova Steam Power project management system.
• Build strong customer relationships through clear communication and effective issue resolution.
• Report project progress, including financials, and flag key issues early.
• Work with the Project Site Manager on execution, manpower and resource planning, and coordinate with the Corporate Social Investment (CSI) projects representative and compliance team.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years' experience leading complex infrastructure project execution.
• Solid experience in contract management.
• Ability to lead a project team.
• Desired: experience in the coal power industry or on project sites, and strategic contractual thinking to spot contract risks and opportunities.

Required skills

• Significant experience with FIDIC or NEC contracts.
• Desired: familiarity with the NEC suite and experience setting up time and materials (T&M) contracts.
