Facilities Manager

About the role

Leroy Merlin South Africa is looking for a Facilities Manager in Johannesburg. The role covers the strategic and operational management of all company facilities, keeping buildings, equipment, infrastructure and support services maintained to the highest standards so that they are safe, compliant, efficient and cost effective.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day management, maintenance and operation of facilities, buildings, equipment and infrastructure.
• Develop and run preventative maintenance programmes to maximise efficiency and minimise downtime.
• Manage building services such as security, cleaning, waste management, utilities and landscaping.
• Inspect and audit facilities, equipment and systems regularly to find maintenance needs, risks and improvement opportunities.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental and regulatory standards.
• Prepare, manage and monitor maintenance and facilities budgets and support cost control.
• Manage relationships with contractors, suppliers and service providers and lead repairs, renovations and improvement projects.
• Procure maintenance equipment, materials and services in line with company policy.
• Maintain facilities policies, procedures and standards, and keep accurate records such as asset registers and inspection reports.
• Drive sustainability through energy efficiency and waste reduction, and lead, coach and develop the facilities and maintenance teams.
• Handle facility emergencies and implement corrective actions.

Required profile

• Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent; a diploma or bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Property Management, Building Management or a related field.
• Proven experience in facilities management, property operations, building maintenance or a similar management role.
• Knowledge of health, safety, environmental and regulatory compliance, and experience managing maintenance programmes, building services, contractors and service providers.
• Demonstrated financial management skills, including budgeting, cost control and contract management.
• Project management, planning, organisational and problem-solving abilities, plus strong communication, negotiation and leadership skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Experience with facilities management systems, maintenance management software or CMMS is advantageous.
