Project Financial Controller – Mining Projects

About the role

This position sits at the intersection of finance, engineering and operations for a large‑scale mining project. You will be responsible for ensuring financial accuracy and driving cost‑control throughout the project lifecycle, from planning to execution.

Key responsibilities

• Drive project budgeting, forecasting and cost‑control processes.
• Analyse project financial performance and produce weekly/monthly forecasts.
• Prepare cost reports, variance analysis and capital expenditure reporting.
• Partner with engineers and project managers to improve financial performance.
• Strengthen financial controls and support internal/external audit processes.
• Optimise reporting efficiencies and develop dashboards and insights.
• Identify opportunities to improve plant efficiency and total cost of ownership.
• Support continuous‑improvement initiatives in reporting.

Required profile

• Minimum BCom Honours degree; CIMA qualification is beneficial.
• 7+ years’ experience in project finance or project controlling environments.
• Strong experience in project budgeting, costing, forecasting and controls.
• Proven ability to work closely with project managers and engineering teams.
• Excellent analytical, report‑writing and leadership capabilities.

Required skills

• Experience with reporting tools such as QlikView or PowerBI.
• Exposure to SAP or similar project management systems.
