Tax and Compliance Officer

About the role

Our client, a leading finance group in the Western Cape, is seeking a Tax and Compliance Officer to manage statutory tax filings and corporate compliance obligations. The role ensures the Group remains compliant with SARS, CIPC and JSE Listings requirements while supporting the Head of Finance and external auditors.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and submit VAT, corporate income tax, provisional tax returns and manage related SARS correspondence.
• Maintain the tax compliance calendar, perform monthly tax reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
• Monitor REIT status, JSE Listings and debt sponsor compliance, preparing required filings and covenant certificates.
• File CIPC annual returns, support company secretarial processes and coordinate dividend declarations.
• Liaise with external tax consultants, auditors and company secretarial service providers.

Required profile

• A tertiary qualification in Taxation, Accounting or Commerce (B.Com or equivalent).
• Minimum three years’ experience in a tax or compliance role, preferably within a listed company, REIT or professional services environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with SARS eFiling and CIPC online filing systems.
• Working knowledge of the Income Tax Act, VAT Act and Companies Act.
• Familiarity with REIT tax provisions and JSE Listings requirements.
• Experience in debt covenant monitoring and compliance certification.
