R&D Tax Credits Analyst – Innovation & Capital Incentives

About the role

Join PwC SATIC’s Innovation & Capital Incentives (ICI) team as an R&D Tax Credits Analyst. You will help innovative UK businesses claim valuable R&D tax incentives while working in a collaborative, technology‑enabled environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and deliver a portfolio of R&D tax credit engagements across multiple clients and industries.
• Prepare R&D tax credit claims and supporting documentation for submission to HMRC.
• Analyse large financial datasets using Excel, Alteryx and other digital tools to identify qualifying expenditure.
• Interpret complex financial and technical data into accurate, compliant claims and actionable insights.
• Liaise with clients via email and virtual meetings to gather information and provide updates.
• Collaborate with UK and South African teams to ensure high‑quality outcomes.
• Support and coach junior team members, fostering knowledge sharing.
• Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and identify improvement opportunities.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in taxation or a relevant NQF 7 qualification (post‑graduate qualification advantageous).
• 3–5 years of taxation experience, preferably with R&D tax credits or general tax credits.
• SAIT articles desirable.
• Client‑focused, analytical thinker with strong attention to detail.
• Collaborative, adaptable and eager to learn new technologies.

Required skills

• Experience working in a tax environment, especially with R&D incentives.
• Proficiency with data transformation tools such as Alteryx.
• Advanced Excel skills for data analysis.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
