Project Engineer – Mechanical Engineering

About the role

A leading mechanical engineering firm in Cape Town is seeking a Project Engineer to coordinate engineering projects from quotation through installation. The role ensures safety, client satisfaction, quality, and adherence to schedule and budget.

Key responsibilities

• Manage projects from initial quotation to final hand‑over, including capital drilling equipment and high‑pressure pipe fabrication.
• Gather client requirements, prepare technical specifications, and coordinate surveys and site measurements.
• Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors, obtain quotations, negotiate terms, and oversee procurement of raw materials.
• Organise on‑site installation, supervise receipt of sensitive materials, and coordinate prefabrication activities.
• Monitor project progress, report weekly to Operations Manager, and ensure compliance with HSE, welding, and NDT standards.
• Conduct final client inspections, obtain sign‑off, and prepare project financial analysis and documentation.

Required profile

• University graduate or BTech in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience in mechanical engineering projects, preferably with capital equipment or pipe fabrication.
• Strong organisational and communication skills to work with internal teams and external partners.
