Professor / Associate Professor / Senior Lecturer - Agriculture

About the role

The Faculty of Health and Environmental Sciences, Department of Agriculture, Bloemfontein Campus, is recruiting a permanent academic for the rank of Professor, Associate Professor or Senior Lecturer. The main purpose is to develop academic material and lecture in allocated subjects for own and other programmes and to execute community projects. The subject fields are Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Extension, Finance and Farm Management and Sustainable Agriculture.

Required profile

• A relevant SAQA-approved doctorate (D Tech / PhD / D. Ed. / NQF 10 or equivalent) in Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Extension or Sustainable Agriculture.
• Professor: at least 8 years of teaching/lecturing experience, research output, postgraduate supervision and presentations, and management of an externally funded research project.
• Associate Professor: at least 6 years of teaching/lecturing experience, research output and supervision, and management of at least one research project.
• Senior Lecturer: at least 4 years of teaching/lecturing experience, research output, supervision and at least one community project.
• Preferred: peer-reviewed publications, evidence of research grants, a higher education teaching qualification, NRF rating, and experience in multicultural and industry settings.

What we offer

• Permanent academic appointment.
• Salary scales: Professor R 1 386 806 per annum, Associate Professor R 1 180 659 per annum, Senior Lecturer R 1 028 928 per annum (total cost to company).
