Part-Time Lecturer - English First Additional (2027)

About the role

The Faculty of Humanities, Department of Educational and Professional Studies at the Bloemfontein Campus of the Central University of Technology, Free State, is recruiting part-time lecturers for 2027. The appointment is on an hourly basis for specific semester and/or year subjects covering teaching, learning and assessment and related administration. The lecturer will also execute appropriate community projects.

Key responsibilities

• Develop academic material and deliver lectures in allocated subjects for own and other programmes
• Teach English First Additional I, II and III
• Carry out student evaluation, research and administration linked to teaching
• Deliver face-to-face, remote or hybrid lectures; facilitation and assessment formats may change on short notice
• Be available during scheduled class hours, which may include evening work, and lecture on the CUT Bloemfontein campus

Required profile

• An appropriate postgraduate diploma, honours, master's or doctorate degree depending on the level of presentation
• An education qualification is mandatory for Methodologies modules
• Experience with electronic education (Blackboard) is recommended

What we offer

• Hourly pay depending on qualifications and experience: junior lecturer R292, lecturer R358, senior lecturer R438, associate professor/professor R600
• Appointments are made on an hourly basis for specific subjects
