Professional Nurse – Paediatric

About the role

Mediclinic is seeking a Professional Nurse specialised in paediatric care to join its multidisciplinary team. The role focuses on delivering safe, comprehensive, and high‑quality nursing care to children while collaborating closely with doctors, allied health professionals, and support staff.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver quality nursing care in partnership with a multi‑professional team.
• Identify, prevent, and manage risks to ensure patient safety.
• Facilitate a positive client experience by creating a conducive environment.
• Provide accurate and comprehensive records of all nursing interventions.
• Create a learning environment that builds staff competence.
• Ensure that all utilised stock and equipment are accurately charted.

Required profile

• Diploma leading to registration as a General Nurse OR 4‑year Nursing Diploma or Bachelor of Nursing.
• Postgraduate Advanced Diploma in Midwifery (preferred).
• Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing (e.g., Critical Care, Emergency Care, Peri‑operative Nursing) for specialist units.
• Minimum experience: none required.

Required skills

• Basic life support training (ACLS, ATLS, PALS for specialised wards).
• Computer literacy – Microsoft Office.
• Develop and modify nursing care plans.
• Infection prevention and control.
• Nursing processes, procedures and record keeping.
• Patient assessment and pharmacology knowledge.
• Understanding of relevant nursing legislation and risk identification.
• Application of scientific nursing principles.
