Professional Nurse – Oncology

About the role

Mediclinic is seeking a Professional Nurse specialized in Oncology to join its multidisciplinary team. The role involves delivering safe, comprehensive, and high‑quality nursing care to oncology patients while collaborating closely with doctors, allied health professionals, and support staff.

Key responsibilities

• Provide quality nursing care in partnership with a multi‑professional team.
• Identify, prevent, and manage risks to ensure patient safety.
• Facilitate a positive client experience by creating a conducive environment.
• Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of all nursing interventions.
• Promote a learning environment that builds staff competence.
• Ensure accurate charting of all utilised stock and equipment.

Required profile

• Diploma leading to registration as a General Nurse OR a 4‑year Nursing Diploma or Bachelor of Nursing.
• Postgraduate Advanced Diploma in Midwifery or Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing (e.g., Critical Care, Emergency Care, Peri‑operative Nursing) for specialist units – desired.
• No minimum experience required.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support training (ACLS, ATLS, PALS) for specialised wards.
• Computer literacy – proficient with Microsoft Office.
• Ability to develop and modify nursing care plans.
• Knowledge of infection prevention and control.
• Understanding of nursing processes, procedures and record keeping.
• Strong patient assessment skills.
• Pharmacology knowledge.
• Familiarity with relevant nursing legislation.
• Risk identification capabilities.
• Application of scientific nursing principles and processes.
