Professional Nurse - Medical and Cardiology

About the role

Mediclinic Vergelegen in Somerset West is recruiting a Professional Nurse for its Medical and Cardiology Unit. The nurse leads and coordinates nursing teams to enable optimal patient care, working with a multi-professional team to deliver safe, comprehensive and quality nursing care within their scope of practice. The position is permanent.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver quality nursing care in collaboration with a multi-professional team
• Identify, prevent and manage risks to ensure patient safety
• Facilitate a positive client experience by creating a conducive environment
• Provide accurate and comprehensive records of all nursing interventions
• Create a learning environment that builds staff competence
• Ensure that all used stock and equipment are accurately charted

Required profile

• Diploma leading to registration as a General Nurse, or a 4-year Nursing Diploma or Bachelor of Nursing
• Proven experience as a Professional Nurse in a Medical and/or Cardiology unit
• Basic life support training (ACLS; ATLS; PALS training for specialised wards)
• Preference given in line with the Employment Equity Plan, as well as to internal applicants who meet the minimum requirements
