Professional Nurse - Emergency Centre

About the role

Mediclinic Southern Africa is seeking a Professional Nurse for its Emergency Centre to deliver safe, comprehensive, and high-quality nursing care in line with the Scope of Practice.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver quality nursing care in collaboration with a multi-professional team.
• Identify, prevent and manage risks to ensure patient safety.
• Facilitate a positive patient experience by creating a conducive environment.
• Provide accurate and comprehensive records of all nursing interventions.
• Create a learning environment that builds staff competence.
• Ensure that all utilised stock and equipment are accurately charged.

Required profile

• Essential: Degree or Diploma in General Nursing.
• Desired: Midwifery qualification; Post-graduate certificate or diploma in a relevant specialty area.
• Essential minimum experience: None.
• Desired: One year of post-graduate qualification experience before placement in a specialised unit.

• Infection prevention and control.
• Pharmacology.
• Scientific nursing principles and processes.
• Nursing record keeping.
• Patient assessment skills.
• Nursing processes and procedures.
• Computer literacy (Microsoft Office).
• Development and modification of nursing care plans.
• Knowledge of relevant nursing legislation.
• Basic life support training (ACLS, ATLS, PALS).
• Risk identification.
