Civil Engineer - Water Infrastructure

About the role

Zutari, a water infrastructure company with over 90 years of experience, is looking for a Civil Engineer or Technologist with experience in water infrastructure civil engineering projects to join its Water team in Bloemfontein. The role covers the full lifecycle of water-related projects, from planning and design through construction and completion.

Key responsibilities

• Manage water-related projects and perform complex engineering designs, calculations and analysis across planning, design and implementation.
• Coordinate and integrate design with other engineering disciplines, develop 3D models, technical drawings, specifications and quantities.
• Produce technical and project reports, specifications and procurement documentation.
• Administer construction contracts as Contracts Engineer / Employer's Agent Representative / Principal Agent, including site supervision, administration and handling construction queries.
• Collaborate across disciplines and across multiple geographies in Africa and internationally.
• Ensure compliance with Zutari's quality control procedures and quality standards.

Required profile

• BEng/BSc/BTech/Advanced Diploma or equivalent in Civil Engineering; a post-graduate qualification is advantageous.
• Registered as a Professional Engineer or Professional Engineering Technologist with ECSA, or evidence of registration progress (proof of submission required).
• At least 5 years of post-graduate experience on water and sanitation civil engineering projects, including design, covering the full project lifecycle.
• Knowledge of GCC and FIDIC general conditions of contract; knowledge of other engineering construction contracts is advantageous.

Required skills

• Engineering design software such as Revit, WaterGEMS, Civil 3D, EPANET or AutoCAD.
• Proficiency in MS Office; MS Project knowledge is advantageous.
• Project management, construction administration and site management experience.
