Junior Quantity Surveyor

About the role

A national property developer, recruited through FS Personnel Recruitment, is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Quantity Surveyor with 2-5 years of relevant experience to join its team in Bloemfontein. The position involves preparing cost estimates, BOQs and cost reports, and supporting tender, contract and project close-out work.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare accurate cost estimates and budgets for construction projects
• Conduct quantity take-offs and measurements from drawings and specifications
• Prepare bills of quantities (BOQs)
• Assist with tender preparation, adjudication and contract negotiations
• Monitor project costs and identify cost-saving opportunities
• Manage subcontractor and supplier pricing, quotations and payments
• Evaluate and certify subcontractor claims and progress payments
• Prepare and submit monthly cost reports
• Track project variations and prepare variation orders
• Assist with contract administration, final accounts and project close-out
• Liaise with clients, contractors, consultants and project teams; maintain project financial records

Required profile

• Degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying
• 2-5 years' experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry, including residential or commercial projects
• Sound knowledge of construction contracts, cost management and procurement
• Fluent English and Afrikaans (non-negotiable)
• Valid driver's licence and own reliable transport

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
• Quantity surveying software is advantageous
• Strong numerical and analytical skills
