Production Assistant

About the role

Pick n Pay is hiring a full-time Production Assistant in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. The role covers preparing and wrapping products to standard, handling loose-weight items and keeping the store's production area clean, safe and well-stocked.

Key responsibilities

• Manufacture, prepare and/or wrap products according to specified standards and daily/weekly budgets
• Price random weight and loose-selling items accurately, including checking labels
• Carry out regular quality checks, ensure proper stock rotation and remove damaged or expired stock
• Prevent waste, shrinkage and damage, and monitor temperatures to maintain the cold chain
• Keep up hygiene, housekeeping and safe working standards, and follow security procedures
• Operate and clean equipment, process customer orders and promote products
• Advise customers courteously and communicate clearly with staff, management, customers and suppliers

Required profile

• Grade 12 (matric)
• Ability to make various meat products such as sausage and mince
• Proficiency in English
• Must live near the store and be able to move flexibly between stores
• Calm, patient, conscientious, customer-focused, thorough and accurate, with strong communication skills
