Electricity Pricing & Tariffs Engineer (3 levels)

About the role

eThekwini is recruiting engineers for its electricity pricing and tariffs function, reporting to the Senior Manager (Pricing and Marketing). The role covers the provision of an electricity pricing and supply economics service to internal and external clients, and is offered at three levels: Engineer, Senior Engineer and Chief Engineer.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate and comment on options and alternatives for the planning and delivery of complex electricity and infrastructure pricing.
• Advise and guide on the principles, procedures and applications of complex electricity and infrastructure pricing.
• Apply principles and techniques for developing and presenting technical designs for tariff economics and electricity reduction techniques.
• Coordinate or guide the preparation of contract documentation and the evaluation of tender applications for complex engineering work.
• Define standards and control the implementation and outcomes of complex engineering contracts.
• Disseminate information on pricing concepts and provide reports on interventions and outcomes.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Bachelor of Engineering (NQF Level 8) in Electrical or Electronic Engineering.
• Registered with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA): Engineer (Candidate Engineer) for the Engineer level, Professional Engineer for the Senior Engineer and Chief Engineer levels.
• Valid motor vehicle driving licence.
• 2 years' post-qualification experience in the electricity supply industry (Engineer); 3 years (Senior Engineer); 5 years (Chief Engineer).
• Preferred: 6 years' post-registration experience in the electricity supply industry and energy pricing and tariffs (Chief Engineer).
