Procurement Specialist – Wind Power Projects

About the role
We are seeking a Procurement Specialist to support our wind power projects in South Africa. Based in Johannesburg, you will work closely with senior procurement staff to source and manage materials and services required for wind farm construction and operation.
Key responsibilities
- Assist senior procurement team with end‑to‑end procurement: sourcing, quotation comparison, negotiation, order issuance and delivery follow‑up for electrical systems, mechanical components, tower parts, auxiliary materials and engineering services.
- Review technical datasheets, specifications and product standards to ensure purchased items meet project design and operational requirements.
- Support supplier management by collecting information, maintaining contact lists and conducting preliminary evaluations.
- Collaborate with engineering, project management, QHSE, finance and other teams to align demand, resolve technical mismatches, delivery delays and on‑site material issues.
- Provide short‑term on‑site support at wind farm locations, including material inspection, supplier site verification and urgent procurement coordination.
- Monitor market price trends and assist with daily procurement cost‑control measures.
- Maintain complete procurement documentation in compliance with company policies, South African labour and trade regulations, and renewable energy project standards.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree or National Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- At least 2 years of experience in procurement, supply chain, engineering support or a related field; experience in wind energy or construction is a plus.
- Basic professional knowledge of electrical or mechanical engineering, with the ability to read simple drawings and material specifications.
- Strong communication, coordination and detail‑orientation, with a proactive learning attitude and teamwork spirit.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Valid South African driver’s licence and willingness to travel to remote wind farm sites.
- Fluent written and spoken English.
