Procurement Officer (Buyer) – Bloemfontein

About the role

Our client, a well‑established construction company in Bloemfontein, is looking for an experienced Procurement Officer (Buyer) to manage the sourcing and ordering of construction materials. The role involves using the BuildSmart procurement system and overseeing storeroom operations to ensure projects have the right supplies on time.

Key responsibilities

• Obtain competitive prices and source building materials.
• Place and manage orders through the BuildSmart procurement system.
• Liaise with suppliers to ensure timely delivery.
• Oversee storeroom operations and monitor stock levels.
• Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and industry standards.
• Manage procurement costs and maintain budget control.
• Support project teams by guaranteeing material availability.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of experience in procurement or materials management, preferably in the construction sector.
• Strong knowledge of construction materials procurement processes.
• Experience with BuildSmart or similar procurement systems.
• Background in storeroom management is advantageous.
• Excellent negotiation and supplier management abilities.
• Strong organisational and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
• Willingness to work every second Saturday and be immediately available.
