Procurement Assistant – Junior Role in Manufacturing

About the role

The Procurement Assistant will support the Procurement Department in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment. This junior position is ideal for candidates with strong administrative abilities who are eager to develop a career in procurement and supply chain management.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and issue purchase orders and obtain supplier quotations.
• Follow up on outstanding orders, deliveries and monitor order progress.
• Maintain accurate purchasing records, supplier documentation and update procurement spreadsheets and ERP data.
• Communicate with suppliers regarding pricing, delivery dates and order queries.
• Assist with supplier onboarding, inventory replenishment and liaison with Production, Warehouse, Finance and other departments.
• File and maintain procurement records and perform general administrative duties within the department.

Required profile

• Grade 12 (Matric) minimum; further qualifications in Procurement, Supply Chain or Business Administration are advantageous.
• 1‑3 years of administrative experience; procurement experience is a plus but not mandatory.
• Excellent organisational skills, high attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
• Strong verbal and written communication, good numerical ability and proactive attitude.
• Reliability, integrity and willingness to take ownership of tasks.
